Find Your Escape
Each Dunton property reflects its surroundings, shaped by geography rather than uniformity. From mountain towns to coastal villages, every location offers space to settle into the moment and move at your own rhythm.
ABOUT US
Dunton Destinations began with a simple decision: to approach places with care rather than conquest.
Each Dunton property is chosen for its remoteness and character, then shaped slowly, guided by the land, the existing structures, and the lives that once passed through them. Nothing is standardized. Nothing is rushed.
Across mountains, coastlines, and historic settlements, the same principles apply: privacy over scale, craftsmanship over spectacle, and restraint over excess.
The result is a small collection of secluded places, each distinct in geography, but united by a shared way of working.

OUR HISTORY
The approach that defines Dunton today began at a remote mining town along Colorado's West Dolores River.
Built in 1885, the town thrived briefly before the mines closed and the cabins were left to weather into silence. For decades, the land shifted purpose, but the structures remained.
In the 1990s, the decision was made to restore the town completely, cabin by cabin, without erasing its past. The work took years. What emerged was not just a destination, but a way of caring for place that favored preservation, patience, and restraint.
That first restoration became the blueprint. Everything that followed would be guided by the same principles.
)
Dunton properties are an expression of commitment. Their remoteness sets a pace defined by the land rather than convenience. Arrival is deliberate. Time unfolds differently. That sense of distance—physical and mental—remains essential to the experience.
Over time, individuals have come and gone—drawn by the land, changed by it, and eventually moving on. What matters is not permanence of presence, but continuity of care.
Today, Dunton’s properties are carried forward by stewards rather than operators. The work is deliberate. The pace is unforced. Decisions are made with an eye toward what should endure, not what should expand.
This approach does not belong to any one person or moment. It is inherited, practiced quietly, and passed on.
